The Land Trust sites in Warrington are located in three main residential areas around the town, which exhibit a diverse range of landscape and community characteristics. Habitats are predominately made up of grassland, woodland, private roadsides and ponds, parks and five play areas. We maintain these and guarantee their future as public open space to enhance the local environment and provide resources for local communities, through recreational and educational activities and events. Some of the Warrington Land Trust sites that Green Angels focuses its activities on in Warrington are:

  • Airlift Hill is located on the former Burtonwood Airbase in Warrington and opened to the public in 2021. The name of the park came from a student at the local primary school and includes a large grassland, young woodland planting, swales and ditches. This greenspace is home to Kestrels, Buzzards, Oyster Catchers, Skylarks and lots more!
  • Bewsey encompasses some of the parkland/pleasure gardens originally linked to Bewsey Old Hall, with the remnants of a formal path network, woodland. There is a substantial pond with pond-dipping platform.

One Day Plant Identification

Date and Time: Friday 13th June from 10am – 3pm Location: Bewsey, WA5 9PB (linked to google maps) Overview: As this is an addition onto the Water Course, there isn’t an official schedule. We will be focussing on plant identification – what features to use to help with identifying, plant names and useful tools to use.

Thank you for your welcoming introduction to Hassall Green Nature Reserve and for explaining all the interesting and inclusive activities which are provided there. Ralph and I really enjoyed finding out about the work being done to encourage involvement in the natural world and to support local wildlife.
