Oliver Road Lagoons, sometimes known as “West Thurrock Marsh”, is a 40 hectare site, home to a myriad of wildlife species, including the very rare Distinguished Jumping Spider.  The Land Trust is working in partnership with Natural England, Buglife and property developer Goodman to create a valuable haven here for the birds and invertebrates of West Thurrock.

Previously the location of Thurrock Power Station, the soils on site here contain significant quantities of Pulverised Fuel Ash (PFA), which are proving very beneficial for the developing ecosystems and wildlife.  The mosaic of wildflower rich habitats provides homes for more than 1,300 different species of birds, insects and reptiles.

In 2024 Green Angels is offering:

  • June: A Wildlife Identification course with specific focus on Dragonflies; Damselflies; Butterflies; solitary bees; Bumblebees and true bugs

N.B. There are no toilets on site at Oliver Road Lagoons
