Ash Green Meadows is a spacious green site with a strong rural character, created from former agricultural land.

The site is made up of a mix of landscapes, with damp grassland in the west and more open fields in the east, offering a variety of habitats and views to explore.

Habitats and wildlife

Ash Green Meadows supports a diverse range of habitats, including:

  • Semi‑improved damp grassland
  • Improved grassland fields
  • Scattered mature oak trees creating a parkland feel
  • Woodland strips, hedgerows, and scrub
  • Seasonal ponds and wet ditches

These features provide important spaces for wildlife and contribute to the site’s rich natural environment.

Part of the site, known as Cardinal Fields, is designated as a Site of Nature Conservation Importance (SNCI). This area supports a range of damp grassland species, including plants such as Sneezewort (Achillea ptarmica).

A network of footpaths runs throughout the site, offering opportunities for:
