From the plateau, you can see local landmarks including:

  • The surrounding countryside stretching towards the New Forest
  • Salisbury Cathedral
  • Old Sarum
  • Laverstock Downs

Wildlife and habitats

The park is an important space for wildlife, with habitats carefully managed and developed over time.

These include:

  • Species‑rich chalk grassland
  • Woodland and scrub habitats
  • Wetlands and wet grassland area.

The site has become a thriving home for wildlife and is a recognised breeding ground for the red‑listed skylark, especially noticeable in spring.
