After three months with no on-site activities or sessions, the Land Trust’s award-winning training scheme Green Angels will be hosting two online taster sessions before courses begin again following the Covid-19 outbreak.
Both introduction to horticulture sessions will take place on Friday 25 June as part of a virtual employment day run by Ixion Connecting Choices network.
The 30-45 minute sessions will cover Practical Horticulture activities, such as seed sowing, soil management, composting, attracting pollinators and tips on growing at home.
Green Angels project Officer, Josie, will be leading the sessions, and said:
“It’s great to be able to restart sessions in a different way. The team has really missed interacting with our lovely Green Angels participants and it’s exciting to be embracing a new, additional way of delivering activities.”
Despite no courses or volunteering sessions being able to take place since March, the Green Angels team have still be
en providing people with fun outdoor activities and interesting facts throughout lockdown through a weekly email.
The weekly email provides an activity for each day which is suitable for all ages and has been a hit with many outdoors enthusiasts.
The online sessions are the first step towards restarting Interactive Green Angels activities whilst the team make plans for safely rolling out more sessions on Land Trust green spaces, which is expected to happen in July.
